Beyond Trauma: A Healing Journey for Women
Over the past thirty years our knowledge of women's lives has increased dramatically, and we have added significantly to our understanding of the treatment needs of chemically dependent women. Based on Dr. Covington's curriculum Beyond Trauma: A Healing Journey for Women, this two day training is designed to be part of the solution by helping women recover from the impact of trauma in their lives. The curriculum focuses on the kinds of created suffering that women are most at risk of experiencing: childhood abuse, rape, battering, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Beyond Trauma represents an integrated approach to women's treatment, based on theory, research, and clinical experience. It can be used in any setting (outpatient, residential, therapeutic community, criminal justice or private practice.) The curriculum represents a strength-based approach that seeks to empower women and increase their sense of self.
Women and Addiction: A Gender-Responsive Approach
This two day training presents the comprehensive Women’s Integrated Treatment (WIT) Model based on the theories of addiction, women’s psychological development, and trauma. Designed for counselors, therapists, clinical supervisors, and program administrators, the training focuses on the elements needed for women’s recovery services and is based on Dr. Covington’s new program development guide, Women and Addiction: A Gender-Responsive Approach, and her manualized curriculum, Helping Women Recover: A Program for Treating Addiction. The key issues of self, relationships, sexuality, and spirituality, as well as the therapeutic techniques for dealing with these issues, are emphasized.
Voices: A Program of Self Discovery and Empowerment for Girls
Voices: A Program of Self-Discovery and Empowerment advocates a strength-based approach that helps girls to identify and apply their power and voices as individuals and as a group. The focus of this two-day training event is on issues that are important in the lives of adolescent girls, from modules about self and connecting with others to explore healthy living and the journey ahead. It can be used in many settings: outpatient and residential substance abuse treatment, schools, juvenile justice and private practice.
